LogiCam has received a feature I considered a long time already:

Tilt/Pan and Zoom with any camera. LogiCam has now a digital zoom
which can be used both with JavaScript and Java Applets.

LogiCam can be downloaded from here:

Let me know what you think about it and append your opinion about the software to this thread

Maybe you changed the port number?

When that happens, right click the Icon in the system tray and choose
'Start Administration' - does that work?

The controls for panning and tilting seemed to only do digital panning and tilting. It did not use the motorized pan and tilt for the Logitech Orbit (did not make the camera move). Maybe this function hasn't been added yet?

Hello ! I'm a little confused (doesn't take much though) I read that "LogiCam is the first LogiSphere Module" but after trying LogiCam, it looks like a replacement for LogiSphere. Is LogiCam then a sucessor to LogiSphere, or how do you see things ? Pete

Hi Pete,

I understand your confusion.

let me quote the mail I wrote to those who requested information on Dec 7th:
I see LogiSphere as a core program to implement other features with modules.
Those modules will be standalone programs which cooperate with LogiSphere.
They can run on the same computer or on any other computer.

LogiSphere will have a configuration screen to connect to the modules, so they
work together as one.

Modules will be designed in a way that multiple modules of the same type can
be run with one LogiSphere installation to support multiple cameras

Modules I consider writing are:

* Webcam modules with different features
- the obvious one is a Logitech Sphere/Orbit module,
with tilt/pan support, maybe one day even a zoom option
- modules for different other camera models, IP cameras,
other tilt/pan/zoom cameras
- security: motion detection with video recording

* Hardware control
- support for the K8055 USB interface
- X10 support

* Audio module
- I am investigating on a MP3 server to stream live or prerecorded content

As those modules become available, the core LogiSphere program is probably
going to lose that functionality.
It does not make much sense to have the same functions in different programs,
right?

In a year from now, LogiSphere might be a complete home automation system
with support for many of your networked devices.

The core module will provide just the webserver with access log and geoip functionality
connecting and controlling all running modules.

LogiCam is the first module I delivered, LogiServer is another one I am working on currently.
LogiServer will be the central module organizing all the 'satellites'. As I did not come up with the name LogiServer at the time I wrote the email above, I called it 'future version of LogiSphere'.

In the final state, all modules will depend on LogiServer to deliver content to the internet, but as LogiServer is not ready yet,
I implemented LogiServer's job on my server logisphere.seiz.ch so you can test and use LogiCam
