JPEG2Video problems

I have a Pro license with an additional camera license.

When I try to use Jpeg2video to process images, jpeg2video reports only one image in the specified directory. All other options are greyed out. It does this no matter what directory is specified.

SSE: Thanks for this stable piece of software. Thumbs up!! I hope development will continue long into the future.

You are remembering to click the Count button after choosing the directory, right??

I just did a little test here and jpeg2video works almost fine. The only problem I see is that when there are "X" jpg files in the directory it reports finding "X-1" files. (e.g. I selected a directory with 50 jpg files in it, hit Count, and it says it found 49 files)

Thanks for your help Melvin.

Yes, I am clicking Count after I select the directory. There are several hundred photos and still only counts one image....? I have two directories and reports the same for either.

Hmmm... then I have no idea. I tested on XP Pro SP-3 (32 bit). If you're running a different O/S then post which one it is and hopefully somebody with that O/S will see this thread and do a test. All my boxes run XP right now.

I don't know what to make of that either but it sure does look like it's related to the problem you're having. I have no .NET events at all in my event log after running video2jpeg so I think we can assume this is not a normal thing.

Probably SSE is the only one who can help at this point since this looks like something in the program is throwing exceptions...

What version of Windows are you using?

On my system, the jpeg2video user interface is displaying "JPEG2Video licensed to Melvin Gxxxxxxxx" right above the Exit button. If yours is displaying something similar (with your name of course) then we can probably rule out licensing issues.

I tried setting the directory to one that contains NO jpg files at all, then hit Count: it says "Found -1 files" and everything in the Video Properties control area is grayed out.

I also tried setting the directory to one that contains only ONE jpg file, then hit Count: it says "Found 0 files" and again everything in the Video Properties control area is grayed out.

After that, I tried setting the directory to one that contains TWO jpg files and nothing was grayed out - looked normal.

The gray-outs make sense in the scenarios I tested since it take 2 or more frames to make a video.

Since you and I are both using the same O/S I guess I can't blame your troubles on that... Smile

Edited to add: This is a bit far-fetched, but have you considered re-installing (or perhaps hitting Windows Update to see if you are missing a Hotfix for) .NET Framework 2.0?

I have all updates.... but I have been having a sporadic system error since I installed the cameras. Two Logitech Orbits.

If it's not licensing, then it may be a rights issue but if it were rights, I would think the program would still see the files. Instead I get the "Found -1 files" when there are 20 or more.

Thanks for trying to help Melvin... Smile

Spyrithonas, did you install the VideoCapX capture module when you installed AbelCam?
The only reason for JPEG2Video to behave weird is if that capture interface is missing as it's using the VideoCapX OCX to generate the video.

The error mentioned above is a 'DotNet uncaught error termination error'.
All errors that occur in JPEG2Video should be reported with the builtin error catching routine.

No wonder Melvin cannot reproduce this error - it should never happen...

I did install the VideoCapX when I installed AbelCam. To check whether the issue was machine related I also installed on another machine and have the exact same issue, "Found -1 files." Huh?Huh?Undecided
